Rylstone Showground

There is no formally named track at Rylstone Showground, but the grounds on Cudgegong Street have a cycle path, open ovals and a signed off-leash area. That makes them an easy place to walk a dog near the Cudgegong River.

Leads and the off-lead area

Mid-Western Regional Council requires dogs on a lead across the general showground. The designated off-leash area is just behind the showground, and waste bags and bins are provided there.

The walk

The paths are bitumen and concrete, with grass on either side, and the ground is flat. You pass the recreation ovals and reach the banks of the Cudgegong River.

Water is available near the showground and playground, though a travel bowl is handy. The off-leash pen itself has little shade, but the trees and shaded picnic tables by the playground are close.

Getting started

Park off Cudgegong Street near the showground playground, where there are also public toilets.

When to go

On hot days, keep the off-lead play short and rest in the shade by the playground. The flat paths suit older dogs, and the enclosure lets younger ones burn off energy first.
