River Rail Road Trail

Tailem Bend's River Rail Road Trail is a 2.5 kilometre loop through town that takes in the old railway station, the rotunda and views over the Murray. It is paved all the way, and dogs walk it on lead.

Lead rules

Coorong District Council asks for a lead no longer than two metres and dogs under effective control on the walking track. The only off-lead space in town is the fenced dog park on Railway Terrace, beside the rotunda.

The walk

Sealed footpath and formed track keep it tidy underfoot. Along the way you get the historic station, riverfront outlooks and the town's giant sculpture.

Parking is right by the Railway Terrace precinct, and there are bins and public amenities in the town centre. Bring water for the dog.

Make a day of it

Finish with an off-lead run at the Tailem Bend Dog Park, then pick up something from Tailem Bend Bakery.

It is a handy leg stretch for anyone driving through with a dog. Short, flat and paved, it suits dogs of every age.
