Curdies River Estuary Walk

Where the Curdies River meets the sea at Peterborough, a foreshore walk traces the estuary past parkland, dunes and birdlife. Keep dogs on lead and it makes an easy, varied outing on the Great Ocean Road.

Lead rules

Walk on lead through the foreshore parkland and township areas, which Corangamite Shire Council manages. Some nearby beaches have seasonal dog limits in peak periods, so check signs before heading onto the sand.

The walk

Paths on the western side of the river and across the bridge are sealed and even. Other sections cross the foreshore on natural ground and sand.

Water is available in the foreshore parkland, along with toilets, seats and picnic spots with barbecues. Park by the foreshore or on the eastern side of the bridge, and take care on the Great Ocean Road verge between sections.

When to go

Outside the summer peak, when the beaches are quieter and fewer limits apply. The sealed western side suits older dogs.
