Monash Reserve

Monash Reserve is a sports and recreation ground in Newborough, not Yallourn North, reached from Monash Road and Rawlings Way. Dogs are allowed, and the paths make for a tidy on-lead loop.

Lead rules

Latrobe City Council requires dogs on a lead at all times in its recreation reserves. Off-lead running is only allowed inside the council's designated dog parks.

Check the signs near the sports fields for any extra seasonal or game-day restrictions.

The walk

Concrete, asphalt and compacted paths loop around the sporting facilities and recreation areas. Along the way you pass open turf pitches and community buildings, with the local slopes rising behind.

Old pine trees give some shade, though much of the reserve is open grass.

Getting started

There is parking right beside the reserve. Bins are near the ovals and car park, but there is no mapped water for dogs, so bring your own and a bowl.

It is a practical everyday walk rather than a destination. Go when the fields are quiet and the paths are yours.
