Milson Park

Milson Park sits on the Kirribilli foreshore off McDougall Street, with harbour views, old fig trees and a lawn where dogs can run off lead. The one firm rule is distance, so stay 10 metres clear of the children's playground.

Leads and the playground

North Sydney Council treats its parks as off-lead unless they are specifically excluded, and Milson Park is a popular off-lead spot. Dogs need to be under control and are not allowed within 10 metres of the playground.

Clip on as you get near the play equipment, and let them go again once you are well clear.

Shade, water and the harbour

Pepsi: The little boat ramp beside the Flying Squadron is the splash spot. Pack a towel for the car.

Big fig trees and palms give real shade, and the park has a public bubbler and toilets. Paved walkways run between the grass and the formal gardens.

The park meets the water beside the Sydney Flying Squadron, where a small boat ramp draws dogs that like a paddle. Jacarandas turn it purple in spring.

Make a day of it

The Flying Bear is right beside the park for a coffee, or try Cool Mac, also in Kirribilli.

When to go

Street parking along McDougall Street is metered or timed and fills quickly, especially in jacaranda season. Come early if you drive. This small, social park suits dogs that are relaxed around people.
