Mickey Mouse Hill Bushland Reserve

Mickey Mouse Hill Bushland Reserve is a pocket of native bush off Lily Street in Golden Square, with a lookout over the Bendigo valley as the reward for the climb.

Lead rules

The City of Greater Bendigo manages the reserve. Dogs are allowed, and they must be on a lead unless local signs mark an area as off lead.

The walk

Tracks are unsealed dirt and gravel, climbing over rugged ground through native trees and scrub. The walk up and around the hill is short but rewarding.

Tree cover gives some shade, though parts of the track are open. Bring water and a collapsible bowl, and carry your bags out.

Make a day of it

For an off-lead run afterwards, the Emily Way Dog Off Leash Area is also in Golden Square. Madame Jude is close for a coffee.

When to go

It stays fairly quiet outside the early morning and sunset rush, and street parking is on the surrounding Golden Square streets. Pick a cool day, as the rocky climb and open patches can be warm going for dogs.
