Emily Way Dog Off Leash Area

Emily Way Dog Off Leash Area is a small, unfenced reserve tucked between Emily Way and Norelle Crescent in Golden Square, a few minutes south of central Bendigo. It is a quiet neighbourhood stretch for a run rather than a destination park - a long, narrow grassed corridor running under the power lines.

The dog setup

Greater Bendigo is generally an on lead municipality, so this reserve is a designated exception under the council's dog laws. Dogs must be under effective control - in sight and responding immediately to voice commands - and you need to carry a lead to clip on if control lapses or another dog wanders in from the street. Greyhounds must stay leashed even here, per the Domestic Animals Act. Surrounding streets are on lead territory.

Worth knowing

Facilities are basic. There is no fence, no confirmed water tap, no dedicated bins and little shade beyond the surrounding trees, so bring your own water, bowl and waste bags and take everything home with you. A vehicle-width track runs the length of the grass, which can grow long between maintenance cycles. It suits a quick stretch-and-run for locals rather than a special trip.

The reserve sits in a residential pocket of Golden Square, with street parking along Emily Way and the neighbouring streets. High Street and the Midland Highway are close by if you are passing through.
