Ellis Brook Valley Reserve

Ellis Brook Valley Reserve puts real bushwalking on the edge of suburban Perth, with seasonal waterfalls, granite faces at the old Barrington Quarry and views back to the city. Dogs are welcome, on lead only.

Rules and opening hours

The City of Gosnells manages the reserve in Martin as part of Banyowla Regional Park, and dogs must be on a lead on every track. Gates open at 6am and lock at 7pm.

The reserve closes on Total Fire Ban days and whenever fire danger is very high or extreme, so check before driving out in summer.

Choosing a trail

There are four marked walks. The Easy Walk Trail is short, flat and sealed, while the climbs toward Sixty Foot Falls and Eagle View turn rocky, gravelly and uneven.

Options run from a 430 metre stroll to a 2 km loop, and you can link trails into about 5 km. Honeyeater Hollow and Valley Head both have car parks.

Water, bins and shade

Max: There is no drinking water and there are no bins. Carry water and a bowl for the dog, and take every bag home with you.

Wandoo woodland shades much of the valley, but the rock around Sixty Foot Falls is exposed. On hot days the shorter, shadier walks are the better choice.

Make a day of it

Since dogs stay leashed the whole walk, a run at Harmony Fields Fenced Dog Park in Maddington makes a good follow-up, or stop for coffee at Dôme Café in Gosnells.
