Lilburne Park Conservation Area

Lilburne Park Conservation Area gives Duncraig a real bush walk without leaving the suburb. It is five hectares of remnant bushland off Lilburne Road, shady and quiet, and dogs must stay on lead the whole way.

Lead rules

The City of Joondalup manages the reserve for its native plants and animals. Dogs are allowed strictly on lead, with no off-lead section.

That keeps it calm, which suits dogs that find busy ovals and dog parks too much.

The walk

Limestone paths wind through the bush, with a few informal side tracks. The reserve forms the southern link of a green corridor, and the paths carry on north into the Hepburn Conservation Area.

A thick native canopy shades most of the route, so it stays walkable on warmer days.

Getting started

There is no car park, so use the surrounding residential streets. Bins and water are scarce inside the bushland, so carry a bottle and bags.

Max: Keep the lead short on the narrow limestone paths. This is wildlife habitat, and a curious nose off the track is exactly what the rules are there to stop.

Walk it early or late on summer days, when the bush is coolest and busiest with birds.
