Junee Heritage Walks

Junee's self-guided heritage walks set off from the Broadway Museum at 86 Broadway, taking in the town's wide main streets and nineteenth-century buildings. It's a street walk, so dogs stay on lead.

Leads in town

Dogs are welcome on the public footpaths of the West Side and East Side heritage walks, on a lead and under control. The walks are an outdoor outing, so dogs won't be going inside the museum.

For a run afterwards, Junee Shire Council lists designated off-leash areas in town, including a fenced agility dog park near Park Dam.

The walk

Flat concrete and bitumen footpaths lead past commercial buildings from Junee's boom years as a railway and pastoral hub. The route is easy on paws and simple to follow.

Shade comes from street trees and shop verandahs. Carry a portable bowl and water, and bring bags, since pet-waste bins are more reliable in the parks.

Street parking is easy around Broadway near the museum.

When to go

In summer, go in the morning before the footpaths heat up. It's a gentle outing for older dogs and for anyone who likes some history with their walk.
