Huntly Streamside Reserve

Near Bendigo, Huntly Streamside Reserve follows a narrow creek through flat bushland. It is a place to wander rather than tick off a set loop, and dogs must stay leashed the whole way.

Lead rules

Dogs must be on lead at all times to protect the local wildlife, and there is no off-lead section. The reserve is managed by Parks Victoria in the City of Greater Bendigo, so read the signs at the entry for any local restrictions.

The walk

Tracks are unpaved dirt, grass and old service roads, and they branch in several directions along the creek. Pick your own distance and turn back when it suits.

Expect native trees shading the creek, scattered shrubs and wide grassy clearings. The Leans Road picnic area makes an easy starting point.

Before you head out

Bins and taps are few and sit near the entry points, so bring water and bags for the dog.

For an off-lead run afterwards, try Epsom Huntly Recreation Reserve. Cool mornings suit this one best, since parts of the track are open to the sun.
