Soutar Park

Soutar Park is a leafy City of Unley park on Albert Street in Goodwood, right on the Clarence Park border. The reason to come is the time-share rule, which lets dogs run off lead in part of the park from 5 pm to 10 am.

Leads and the off-lead hours

Between 5 pm and 10 am, dogs may be off lead in the open play area and south of the east-west path. Outside those hours, and in the rest of the park, keep them on lead.

The walk

Paved paths wind between open grass, a fenced playground and a community orchard full of fruit trees. It is more a park wander than a long walk, with room for a ball game in the off-lead hours.

Water and shade

Mature trees shade much of the grass and play areas. There are drinking fountains, bins, toilets and gas barbecues, with street parking on Albert Street and nearby roads.

Page Park in Clarence Park runs the same off-lead hours, and Sublime Cafe makes an easy coffee stop.

When to go

Come in the off-lead window, early in the morning or after 5 pm, when locals bring their dogs for a run. A midday visit means the lead stays on.
