Fourth Creek Trail

Red gums line Fourth Creek as it winds through Newton, Rostrevor and Magill, and the trail beside it is an easy on-lead stroll through Adelaide's eastern suburbs. Its official name is the Fourth Creek Morialta Parri Trail.

Lead rules

Campbelltown City Council requires dogs on a lead no longer than two metres on footpaths, reserves and linear parks, and that covers the whole trail.

Max: Two metres is the limit here. A retractable lead let right out breaks that rule.

The walk

The surface mixes compacted gravel, bitumen and paved sections, and it is pram-friendly, so most dogs manage it without trouble.

The path follows the creek corridor through quiet parklands and local reserves, with ancient river red gums along the banks.

Pair it with

For an off-lead run, Four Paws Park Fenced Dog Park in Hectorville is close by. Hidden Leaf Cafe in Campbelltown suits a coffee afterwards.

When to go

The gentle surface suits older dogs and families with prams. Bring water for the dog on warm days.
