East Shores Parklands

East Shores Parklands wraps the Gladstone waterfront along Flinders Parade, with coloured concrete walkways, marina views and passing ships. Dogs are welcome on the paths, always on lead.

Lead rules

The parklands are run by Gladstone Ports Corporation rather than the council. Dogs must stay leashed at all times and are not allowed in the playgrounds, the Water Play Park or the outdoor cinema area.

The walk

The paved paths are flat and smooth, suited to prams, wheelchairs and dogs of any fitness. Keep an eye on the harbour as you go, since dolphins are a regular sighting.

Water and shade

Bubblers are spread along the waterfront precinct, though a travel bowl makes it easier to water the dog on the path. Bins and dog waste bag dispensers sit at the main entries and throughout.

Lawns, trees and shaded picnic shelters give places to rest, and there is plenty of public parking alongside.

Make a day of it

Grab a coffee afterwards at Boy Espresso Bar in Gladstone Central or Grounded Society in South Gladstone.

Early morning is the pick in Gladstone's heat. Being flat and paved, the walk suits older dogs well.
