Calala Lane Walkway

Calala Lane Walkway is a paved shared path through suburban Calala in Tamworth, useful for a daily on-lead walk away from busy roads. The payoff is a short hop to an off-leash park.

Lead rules

Tamworth Regional Council requires dogs to be on a lead on shared paths and road easements. The nearest place to let them off is the signed leash-free area at Harrier Parade Park.

The walk

The path is concrete and asphalt, shared with cyclists, and runs past houses and neighbourhood links along Calala Lane. Council has extended it to improve safety for walkers and riders, and a Calala to CBD recreational path is planned.

Mature street trees shade parts of the lane, but it is mostly open, so bring water for your dog.

Getting started

Park on the feeder streets near Harrier Parade and the Calala Lane connections. General bins are placed along the path.

Pair it with

Finish with a run at Harrier Parade Park Dog Off Leash Area, which makes the walk a good warm-up.

Go early or late in summer, when the open path has cooled. It suits locals after a reliable, flat route for dogs of any age.
