Bunting Park

Bunting Park in Calliope covers most of what a dog walk needs: a fenced off-leash exercise area, a paved path for an on-lead loop, and open grass under shade trees.

Leads and the off-leash area

Gladstone Regional Council manages the park. Inside the fenced dog exercise area, dogs can run free.

Everywhere else, including the bike and walking path, dogs must be on a lead.

The walk

A concrete path carries walkers and bikes through the park, past a modern skate park, a playground and open lawns.

Keep the lead short around the skate park and playground, where kids and boards come and go quickly. The trees along the grassy areas are the spot to cool off.

Getting started

The park is on Archer Street in Calliope, near Bloomfield Street. Bring bags and a bottle of water for the dog.

When to go

Quiet mornings suit dogs that find skateboards unsettling. The fenced area makes it a good pick for dogs whose recall is still a work in progress.
