Lake Weeroona Loop

Pelicans on the water, heritage pavilions and a flat sealed path make Lake Weeroona one of Bendigo's favourite loops, just north of the city centre. Dogs walk it on lead.

Lead rules

The City of Greater Bendigo manages the lake. The main circuit is a shared path, so keep dogs leashed and close when bikes and runners pass.

The walk

The circuit is about 2.5 km of smooth bitumen, level and suitable for all abilities. Rowers, waterbirds and the parkland keep dogs interested the whole way.

Mature trees and picnic pavilions give shade in places, but large parts of the loop are open. Sealed parking bays ring the lake, with ramped access onto the path.

Pepsi: Taps near the reserve are not always at dog height, so a collapsible bowl earns its spot in the bag.

Pair it with

The Golden Bean in Bendigo is close for a coffee, and Harcourt Dog Park in Strathdale is a proper fenced run for afterwards.

Early mornings are the pick in summer, before the open stretches heat up. Flat and sealed, the loop suits older dogs and pram walks.
