Bendigo Creek Trail

The Bendigo Creek Trail is a sealed shared path following the creek through greater Bendigo, from Golden Square through the city centre past Lake Weeroona towards Epsom. Dogs walk it on lead.

Lead rules

Greater Bendigo is an on-lead municipality by default, so the City of Greater Bendigo requires dogs on a leash along the trail. Off-lead running is saved for the designated reserves near it.

The walk

The surface is smooth asphalt and concrete, good in any weather. Along the way you pass gold-mining heritage, city streets and parkland beside open and channelled parts of the creek.

Shade is patchy, with mature trees on some stretches and full sun on others. Water fountains and bins sit at access points and nearby reserves, but they are spread out, so carry a bowl and bags.

Make a day of it

Truscott Reserve Dog Park is fully fenced, with separate areas for small and large dogs, water bowls and bins. It is the easy place to finish with off-lead play.

The smooth, flat path suits older dogs and steady walkers. On hot days, go early.
