Lake View Hotel

The Lake View Hotel works the McCrae Street side of Lake Weeroona, close enough that the lake genuinely features from the outdoor tables. Dogs are welcome at the front verandah tables and in the beer garden, per the Dogsonholidays listing; the one caution it adds is to confirm the outdoor layout on function days, when the verandah can be given over to an event.

Because that comes from a dog-travel listing rather than the hotel's own policy page, ring ahead if your visit is function-day dependent; midweek the arrangement runs as described. The walk in from the lake path is an on-lead one, same as the reserve itself, and a settled dog under a verandah table is exactly the trade this hotel has run for years.

Getting there: McCrae Street runs along the southern edge of the lake, with parking at the hotel and along the reserve side, and the lake path delivers you to the verandah without touching a main road. For the dog day out of town, the hotel sits on the eastern approach to the CBD, so it pairs naturally with a morning lake lap before lunch is even considered.

The vibe

The menu is proper pub kitchen: porterhouse, lamb cutlets, a mixed grill, pork belly and a lamb shank that anchors the winter trade, with stuffed chicken breast for the lighter order. A review base well past fifteen hundred keeps it rated strongly, and the combination of lake position and pub portions makes it the natural big-meal stop after a lap of the water. Bookings wise up quickly on weekends; the verandah trade rewards the earlier sitting.

Make a day of it
