Melville Beach Road Foreshore Path

The shared path along Melville Beach Road in Applecross hugs the Swan River, and the Perth city skyline sits across the water the whole way. Dogs are welcome, as long as they stay on a lead.

Lead rules

The City of Melville looks after this stretch of foreshore. Dogs can walk the Swan Canning Riverpark foreshore reserves, but they must be on a lead at all times unless you are inside a signed off-lead area.

The walk

The path is sealed, so it is easy going for paws and prams alike. On the land side you pass grassy foreshore parks and riverbank planting that is being restored with native species.

Want more distance? The path carries on toward Bicton and Attadale.

Max: This is a shared path, so bikes come through. Keep the lead short and step aside when you hear a bell.

Make a day of it

Finish with a coffee at Blendcraft in Bicton, or stretch the outing with a wander through Kadidjiny Park.

When to go

Calm mornings are the pick for skyline views and a quieter path. It suits dogs who walk nicely on a lead, and a bottle of water for the dog is worth packing.
