Anderson Park

Anderson Park on Wandal Road, which council also calls Henry Fontaine Grove, is a small neighbourhood green with a renewed playground under established trees. It is a short on-lead stroll, not a long walk.

Lead rules

Rockhampton Regional Council requires dogs on a lead in general parks, and this is not an off-lead area.

The walk

There is no real path network. You walk the grassed open space around the playground, which is enough for a sniff and a stretch in Wandal's older street grid without crossing busy roads.

Shade is decent, with mature trees and new shade structures from the playground upgrade. Bins are around the edge, but there is no dog bubbler, so bring a bottle and bowl.

Getting there

Street parking runs along Cran Street beside the park.

Make a day of it

When your dog needs a proper run, Victoria Park Dog Off-Leash Area is also in Wandal. Finish with a coffee at Coffee Society Rockhampton.

Go early in summer, when the shade does the most work. It suits families pairing a dog walk with playground time.
