Deanside Wetlands Walking Path

Stormwater wetlands and young native plantings line the Deanside Wetlands Walking Path, which sits in Aintree by Featherwood Park, next door to Deanside. It is an on-lead walk, flat and quiet, with good birdwatching.

Lead rules

The City of Melton requires dogs on a leash in public reserves and trail corridors unless a sign marks an off-lead area. Melbourne Water shares care of the waterway.

The wetlands protect habitat for the endangered Growling Grass Frog, so keep dogs on the path and out of the plantings.

The walk

Sealed shared paths loop around the water. Shade is still coming as the trees grow, and parts of the circuit are fully exposed on clear days.

Bins sit at the street entries rather than deep along the paths, and there is informal street parking near the wetland entries. Bring water for the dog, because taps are mostly in the developed parks nearby.

Make a day of it

For a run off the lead afterwards, the Iverson Circuit Fenced Dog Park has agility gear and a tap at the gate.

Cool mornings and late afternoons are best given the limited shade. It suits dogs that do well on a steady, low-key sniff walk.
