Pyramid Holiday Park

Pyramid Holiday Park runs along Kennedy Drive at Tweed Heads West, on the Tweed River and close to the Gold Coast Airport. It is a tidy, well-kept park with powered sites, budget cabins with external ensuites, a guest pool and onsite management, and it takes travelling dogs on its powered sites under a pet policy the park actually publishes in full, which puts it ahead of most parks that just wave vaguely at being pet-friendly.

Management must approve pets first, and one pet per site is the default unless you get prior approval for more. Pets are only permitted on designated powered ensuite sites and are not allowed in or near cabins at all. Sites may not be available over shoulder and peak seasons, so book ahead for holidays. While on your site the dog must be restrained by hand or tied up, with a lead of no more than two metres, and you cannot go out and leave the pet unattended. Pets are prohibited from every park building, including reception and the kiosk, games room, cabins, amenities, laundries, the ensuites, camp kitchen, playground, pool area and BBQ areas, and they may be walked directly to and from the park entrance. The park states plainly that it may end your stay if the conditions are not observed.

Where dogs can run

There is a leash-free area inside the park, and the policy page names the off-lead options nearby: leash-free dog reserves on Ducat Street and at Boyd's Family Park at Tweed Heads West, and a leash-free beach off Murphy's Road at Kingscliff. Clean-up is strictly enforced, with faeces to be bagged and binned in the red-lidded garbage bins immediately. The park also spells out the NSW Companion Animals Act basics that apply everywhere: dogs stay out of children's play areas, food preparation and consumption areas, and public pool areas.

Worth knowing

The park sits under the Gold Coast Airport flight path, and guests mention plane noise often enough that light sleepers should know before booking, though the flip side is a steady parade of aircraft to watch with the dog from your site. Free onsite parking, clear signage on Kennedy Drive and the river outside for leashed walks round out the practical picture. Confirm fees and any size limits with the park when booking, since the published conditions focus on rules rather than charges.
