Rosedale Caravan Park

Rosedale Caravan Park is a quiet, budget-friendly park on Cricket Street in Rosedale, right off the Princes Highway in central Gippsland. It works as a low-fuss overnight stop with the dog rather than a destination stay.

The dog setup

Dogs are welcome on the camping and caravan sites, and the park also permits dogs inside some of the standard cabins, subject to management approval. Call ahead on (03) 5199 2202 to confirm which cabins take dogs and whether a pet fee applies, because it is not consistent across all cabins. On the grounds, dogs stay on lead at all times and owners clean up, with waste bags provided around the park.

The vibe

The park is shaded by large old trees and keeps a country, nothing-to-prove feel that matches the reviews of it being a quiet free-spirited stop. Powered sites come with water and sullage, there is a saltwater swimming pool, BBQ facilities and a clean amenities block. Sites start from around $28 a night, and the entrance and parking are wheelchair accessible.

Getting there

Cricket Street runs off the Princes Highway (A1), putting Rosedale roughly 30 minutes west of Sale and 20 minutes east of Traralgon. The township is small and walkable, and the riverside reserve along the Latrobe River is a short stroll away for a longer leg-stretch with the dog on lead.

While you are out there

If the park is full, Willow Park RV Campground is the other dog-friendly option in town, and The Reserve Hotel in Sale takes pets with room to run. Let the dog off lead at Sale's dog park if you are passing through, and Victoria Rose and Tea Room covers lunch in town.
