Village Campground is the larger of the two NPWS camping areas inside the Hill End Historic Site, an open grassy ground right among the old gold rush streets, with hot showers and powered sites that Glendora doesn't have.
The rules. Dogs are welcome on a leash at all times, in the campground, on public roads and on the designated walking tracks through the historic site. Keep them at least 10 metres from barbecues and picnic tables, and clean up after them straight away. Dangerous or restricted breeds must be muzzled under the Companion Animals Act. Standard NPWS camping fees apply and bookings are made online, there's no extra pet fee.
What's there. Powered and unpowered sites, hot showers, toilets, laundry facilities and BBQs. Running water is available on site but there's no dedicated pet bowl, so bring your own for water and treats.
Getting there. The campground is at 9 Warrys Rd in Hill End village, roughly an hour from Bathurst via the scenic Bathurst-Hill End Road. Roads in are sealed with some gravel sections inside the site itself, and sites are spacious enough to park right beside your tent or van.
Nearby with the dogs. Hill End's dirt tracks and public roads make for an easy on-leash walk past historic cottages and old mining ruins. The Royal Hotel in the village has a pet-friendly outdoor verandah for a drink afterwards, and Hawkins Hill is a short walk or drive for valley views.
