Clement House

Clement House is a heritage bed and breakfast in a circa-1910 family home on Nunn Street in central Benalla, a short walk from the town's shops, cafes and the lake precinct. Guests stay in the front rooms of the original Victorian-era house, with a garden and terrace out back and a continental breakfast included in the rate.

The house

Rooms are private and individually decorated, and the property has built a reputation for being spotless and warm, with small extras such as a complimentary bottle of wine on arrival. Because it is a traditional B&B rather than a self-contained cottage, it works best for one or two people travelling with a single settled dog rather than a pack or a litter of puppies.

Out with the dog in Benalla

The location is the main draw for dog owners: the Lake Benalla walking track, a flat multi-use loop of roughly four kilometres past public art and the Botanical Gardens, starts within an easy stroll of the front door. For a proper off-lead run, Churchill Reserve Dog Park on Bond Street is fully fenced with agility equipment, and Little Casey Island in the lake is a designated off-leash area too. If you want a caravan or cabin base instead of a B&B room, Benalla Tourist Park sits on the lake side of town.
