Moon Sushi Wollongong

Moon Sushi is a casual Japanese kitchen at 3/26 Gladstone Avenue, a couple of blocks back from Wollongong's beachfront and close to the CBD side of the station. Dogs are allowed outside, which makes the outdoor tables an easy quick-lunch stop on a CBD walk with the dog.

The dog setup

Dogs join you at the outdoor seating only; the NSW Food Authority's outdoor-only rule for pets applies, and this is a compact, casual spot built around fresh sushi and takeaway rather than a lingering dinner. That suits calm dogs on a short stop more than an afternoon session. Bring your own water bowl, as one is not guaranteed at the tables.

Worth knowing

The kitchen is known for generous portions and the artistic sushi rolls, with the double salmon roll the signature order. Bento boxes run from teriyaki and spicy lunch versions to bigger dinner combos with rice, miso, salad and tempura, and there is ramen and teriyaki meals beyond the sushi case. It has a quiet, neighbourhood feel rather than a busy dining room.

Getting there and parking

Gladstone Avenue runs between the CBD and the coast, with Wollongong station a short walk and street parking nearby. The kitchen opens 11:30am to 9pm every day of the week, so it works for both lunch and an early dinner stop.

A short walk east puts you on the coastal path towards Coniston Dog Beach for an off-leash swim after lunch.
