The dog setup. Dogs are welcome in the outdoor seating. The footpath tables on Broad Street are the easiest spot, giving you room to settle a dog without threading through the indoor space. Staff are friendly and will generally bring out a water bowl if you ask.

Good to know. The kitchen is known for hearty breakfasts, quality coffee and a broad menu that runs to vegan and vegetarian options, with local produce front and centre. Live music turns up from time to time, which lifts the atmosphere but can make the footpath busier.

Getting there. It is on the main run of Broad Street. There is on-street parking directly out front plus free off-street parking nearby, so it is an easy stop if you are passing between Mackay and points south.

Nearby with the dogs. The fenced dog park at Apex Park on Sichter Street is close for a post-brunch run, and the Tandara Hotel further along Broad Street welcomes dogs in its beer garden.

Mornings are the natural time to come, since the cafe trades early and closes mid-afternoon. Arrive earlier in the morning for a calmer footpath table with the dog.
