The Royal Hotel QBN

The Royal Hotel is a historic pub at 85 Monaro Street in central Queanbeyan, reestablished in recent years with a modern bistro, a busy events calendar and a roomy outdoor courtyard that takes dogs. For a counter meal and a cold drink with the dog settled beside the table, it is one of the most reliable setups in town.

The dog setup

Dogs are welcome in the outdoor courtyard, on leash, and it is a comfortable, space-heavy spot to settle a dog for a long lunch or an early dinner. The indoor bistro and bar areas stay people-only under the standard food-prep rules, so plan your visit around the courtyard. Staff are used to well-behaved dogs coming through; bring your own travel water bowl to be certain, and keep a settled dog close when the courtyard is busy.

Worth knowing

The bistro trades daily from 12pm to 9pm and leans into pub classics done with local produce: the chicken schnitzel is the signature, steaks are a strong point, and the Royal wagyu beef burger is the burger of the house, with gluten-free and vegetarian options alongside. Happy hour runs 4pm to 6pm daily, and there is a cocktail hour Thursday to Sunday from 8pm to 10pm. Getting there and parking

The pub fronts Monaro Street, Queanbeyan's main drag, about 15 minutes from Civic across the border. Street parking runs along Monaro Street and the side streets, and it tightens up on gig nights and Friday evenings, so allow a few extra minutes at peak. The Queanbeyan River and its riverside paths are a short stroll away.
