Cafe Mojo Mundaring

Cafe Mojo Mundaring takes over a weathered weatherboard building on Craig Street in Mundaring, in the Perth Hills east of the city. The cafe has become one of the Hills' most pet-welcoming stops: a laid-back, family-run sort of place with a rustic garden out the back, where coffee and long brekkies stretch into the morning. Dogs are welcome in the outdoor garden seating on a lead.

The dog setup

Dogs join you in the outdoor garden seating, the leafy area out the back that is the cafe's main drawcard, and they can settle beside your table while you eat. The weatherboard garden gets busy on fine weekend mornings, so arrive early for a comfortable spot. Because layouts at a garden cafe can change, confirm the current dog arrangement with staff when you arrive, and carry your own water bowl in case none are out.

Worth knowing

The menu leans wholesome cafe fare with a dedicated plant-based section, and gluten-free options run through the cabinet as well as the menu. Regulars rate the coffee among the Hills' best, and the raw treats and slices in the front cabinet suit a takeaway snack for the drive home. Given the garden setting, expect prams and kids at busy times, which suits settled dogs.

Getting there and parking

The address is 16 Craig Street, Mundaring, on the Great Eastern Highway side of the suburb. Parking is generally on-street along Craig Street with usually a spot within a short walk, and the path to the outdoor seating is flat and pram-friendly.

While you are out there

For a proper run before or after coffee, the Swan View Fenced Dog Park is a short drive down the hills with fully fenced space for dogs to stretch their legs. Lake Leschenaultia at Chidlow and the weir loop at Mundaring both give longer lake and forest circuits within 15 minutes by car if you are making a day of the Hills.
