Lock Shop Cafe

Lock Shop Cafe has permanently closed. The cafe on Lilydale's Main Road, run by the owners of the Valentino Safe Co next door, wound up trading with a final clear-out sale announced on its Facebook page, and local reporting now describes it as the now-closed Lock Shop Cafe. We have left this page up as a record for anyone who knew the venue, but there is no coffee to be had here any more.

What it was

In its run, the Lock Shop was a small country cafe attached to a working safe shop, known for pies and warm savouries, specialty coffee and live music days, with outdoor tables where visiting dogs were welcome. It was a genuine roadside stop for riders and walkers heading out of Launceston rather than a destination venue, which is part of why locals miss it.

With the dogs instead

In the township, Lilydale Tavern remains the dog-friendly eating option on the same road. Lilydale Falls Reserve, a short drive north-east, is an easy on-lead walk with the picnic grounds and the falls themselves. If you are planning a longer stay in the area, Cherry Top Farmstay takes dogs in the same suburb.
