What visitors mention
One of Victoria's oldest Mexican restaurants, running on High Street since 1974, Mexican Kitchen keeps a few footpath tables where dogs are welcome. It is a straightforward, festive spot for a casual meal with your dog at your feet.
The dog setup. Dogs are welcome at the outdoor tables on the High Street footpath, on lead. Companion dogs stay outside; only service dogs come indoors. Water may be offered on request, so bring a portable bowl to be safe. The footpath sits on a busy arterial, so keep your dog tucked in close to your table.
Good to know. The kitchen has been serving traditional Mexican and Spanish-inspired plates for fifty years, with burritos, tacos and nachos the mainstays and a full bar alongside.
Getting there and parking. The restaurant is at 28 High Street, near the city centre. Street parking is available on the High Street service lane and surrounding side streets, with flat, level access to the footpath tables.
Nearby with the dogs. The central location puts a few on-lead walks within reach, and Lake Weeroona is a short hop north for a longer stroll.
Quieter on early weeknights than weekend evenings. Good for a calm dog who can settle close to a busy roadside table.
