What visitors mention
Blackbutt Reserve Fenced Dog Park is a purpose-built off-leash area inside Blackbutt Park, on the corner of Blackbutt Drive and Peppermint Close in Wauchope. It sits next to the local sports fields and gives dogs a genuinely secure, fenced space to run, with separate zones for small and large dogs.
The rules. Dogs can run off-leash inside the fenced zones but must stay under control. Once outside the fenced area, in the wider Blackbutt Park grounds, dogs need to be back on a leash. Owners are responsible for cleaning up after their dogs, and glass and food are best left in the car to avoid conflicts between dogs.
What's there. The park is properly kitted out: a concrete tunnel, agility loop, slalom poles, ramp and platform, plus recycled tyres to play on. There is a water bubbler with dog bowls, shaded seating for owners, and on-site parking right next to the fenced area.
Getting there. The park is at the corner of Blackbutt Drive and Peppermint Close, Wauchope, an easy drive from central Wauchope with parking on site. It is also a reasonable walk from nearby residential streets.
Nearby with the dogs. Watermans Cafe on High Street has dog-friendly outdoor seating and is a short drive away for a coffee afterwards.

Early mornings and late afternoons on weekdays are busiest, when locals bring dogs before or after work. For a quieter run, aim for the middle of the day, though it can pick up again on weekend mornings.
