Mylor Oval

There is no signed walking trail at Mylor Oval, but the oval itself is the draw. Adelaide Hills Council lists it as an off-leash area, so this is a place to let your dog run on open grass in a hills township rather than follow a set route.

Leads and the off-lead area

Dogs can be off lead on the oval when no organised sport or event is running, as long as they stay under effective control. When a game or event is on, clip the lead back on and keep to the edges.

The ground is run day to day by Mylor Oval Management Incorporated on behalf of the council.

What you'll find

The oval is natural turf, framed by tall gum trees that give pockets of shade around the perimeter. There is an off-street car park, public toilets, a playground and bins.

The oval also works as a starting point for longer walks, including sections of the Heysen Trail. There is no dedicated dog tap, so bring water.

Max: Check what's on before you unclip. If there's a match or an event on the oval, the off-lead rule is paused.

Make a day of it

For a longer outing in the hills, try the Aldgate Valley Nature Walk or a lap of Aldgate Oval.

When to go

Come when the oval is free of sport so your dog gets the whole ground. It suits dogs with reliable recall that need open space more than a long walk.
