Forest Hill Off Leash Dog Park

Forest Hill Off Leash Dog Park sits at the corner of Cypress Street and Kurrajong Avenue on the eastern edge of Wagga Wagga, a fully fenced off-leash area bordering the RAAF Base. It is the suburb's daily option for a secure run rather than a destination park, but after recent council upgrades it does the job well.

The dog setup

The whole perimeter is fenced, which makes this a solid pick for dogs that bolt. The large space is divided into three sections with a shaded tree grove, so dogs can space out or be separated when a mix of play styles turns up. A freshwater bubbler with a built-in lower bowl handles water, and sheltered seating and benches were added in the 2024 upgrade.

Concrete pathways connect the entrance to the seating and water, which keeps the park wheelchair and pram friendly and still useable after rain. Wagga Wagga City Council expects voice or visual control at all times, dogs need a collar with ID tags and current lifetime registration, and any declared dangerous or restricted breed stays leashed and muzzled even inside the fence. Bikes, skateboards and motor vehicles are not allowed within the fenced area, and waste goes in the on-site bins.

Max: check the gate is latched behind you before anyone goes off lead. This one backs onto a working RAAF base and that boundary is there for a reason.

The vibe

Weekday mornings from 7 to 9am and the 4.30 to 6pm after-work rush are the busiest stretches. For a near-empty park, aim for the 11am to 2pm window mid-week, or a Sunday afternoon if weekend mornings feel too social for a nervous dog. Note that the council runs this as a daylight-hours facility even though some directories list round-the-clock access, so keep your visit inside daylight to be safe.

Getting there and parking

The park is a few minutes' drive east of the Wagga Wagga CBD, with free street parking along Juniper Place just off the park. Buses run through Forest Hill on the main routes, but expect a short walk from the nearest stop to the gate.
