Compton Dog Park

Compton Dog Park is a fully fenced, off-leash exercise area on Compton Drive in East Ballina, a short walk from the coast. The draw is simple: a big, secure space with built-in agility gear where local dogs run without a lead, backed up by a double-gated entry so nobody bolts into the car park.

The rules. Dogs run off-leash inside the fenced area but must stay under effective voice control. Anti-social or aggressive dogs are expected to leave straight away. Keep dogs leashed in the adjacent car park and on the surrounding footpaths, and don't let them chase local wildlife. Pick up after your dog; bags are sometimes stocked, but bring your own to be safe.

What's there. The park is fully fenced with a double-gated entrance, agility equipment, shaded seating and a dog water station. The ground is level and the layout is wheelchair accessible.

Getting there. It sits on Compton Drive with free street parking out front. Driving is the easy option; East Ballina buses run nearby but don't drop you at the gate. You can also reach it on foot via the coastal walking and cycling track from Lighthouse Beach.

Nearby with the dogs. The coastal path toward Angels Beach is good for an on-lead walk, and Lighthouse Beach has its own off-leash section. For a coffee afterwards, several East Ballina cafes take dogs at their outdoor tables.

Weekday mornings (roughly 7 to 9am) and late afternoons (4 to 6pm) are the busiest windows, so go mid-morning or midday for a quieter run. Good for social dogs with solid recall.
