The Drop Stop Cafe

The Drop Stop Cafe is a corner coffee stop at 33 Beach Street, Woolgoolga, right on the path between town and the beach and headland. It keeps morning-focused hours, Monday to Friday from 6am to 12:30pm, Saturday from 6:30am and Sunday to midday, so it is built for the early beach walk rather than a long lunch. The coffee is the drawcard, widely reckoned some of the best on the Woolgoolga stretch, and the footpath seating on the corner is where dogs settle in.

The dog setup

Dogs are welcome at the outdoor footpath and corner seating, and the welcome is warm rather than token: visitors regularly bring their dogs on morning walk loops, and the owners' own dog sometimes greets arrivals. Water bowls are often put out but bring your own on hot days. Ordering happens at the counter, so a corner table is the spot that keeps your dog in view.

Beyond the flat white

Alongside the specialty coffee there is a strong smoothie list, seasonal and signature: the Troppo blends mango, coconut cream and passion fruit, and the Green Dream runs matcha, banana, kale and hemp seeds. Food is light bites and baked goods, with house-made sausage rolls a regular favourite and a decent run of vegetarian and vegan options. The mood is community-minded, with regulars and holiday traffic mixing over chill music.

The beach rules before you go

Woolgoolga Beach is split-zoned under City of Coffs Harbour rules: dogs are prohibited at the southern end in front of the surf club, and allowed on lead only north of Hofmeier Close. For an off-leash run, Woolgoolga Back Beach is the council's designated spot, though signage during Little Tern breeding season reverts it to on-lead, so read the signs on arrival. The headland walk itself is on-lead, with taps near the reserve for topping up water.
