The Brekkie Box on High Street is Wodonga's fast, no-fuss breakfast answer: a mostly takeaway counter with shaded outdoor tables under the front trees where dogs are welcome. It is built for a quick, well-priced bite rather than a long sit, which suits a morning walk schedule perfectly.

The dog setup

Dogs join you at the outdoor and footpath seating only, not indoors. The shaded tables out front are handy for settling a lead while you order, water bowls are often put out for passing dogs, and the team is known for frothing up a doggychino on request. Carry a collapsible bowl as a backup and keep your dog close, since the footpath is a working High Street footpath.

On the plate

The name tells you the specialty: brekkie wraps and brekkie burgers, hash browns, egg and bacon rolls and banana bread, all turned around quickly by a team reviewers praise for the fun atmosphere. Coffee is locally roasted Honeybird, and the fridge stocks Billson's sodas. Trading runs 5:30am to midday weekdays and 6:30am to midday Saturday, with Sunday closed, so it is strictly a mornings operation.

Getting there and parking

It is at 7 High Street, central Wodonga, with street parking out front and in the side streets. The early-morning tradie rush clears the bays fast, so the 8am-to-10am window is the calmest for parking and a table.

Make a day of it

Belvoir Park Dog Park, with its fenced off-lead area and lake walk, is a short walk or one-minute drive away, which makes breakfast-then-park the obvious sequence. Blind Freddy's Cafe is the alternative local stop for another morning.
