Eyre Pantry is a casual cafe attached to the Eyre Hotel on Playford Avenue, and dogs are welcome in its alfresco area. With a 6:30am start and coffee to go, it works well as an early stop before a walk along the water.

The dog setup. Dogs join you in the outdoor alfresco seating only, not indoors. The area is a pleasant, shaded spot, staff are dog-friendly, and water bowls are often put out. Puppuccinos have been offered for canine visitors. There is also a takeaway window if you would rather grab a coffee and keep moving.

Good to know. The menu leans on local Eyre Peninsula produce, with a farmer's breakfast, chicken and waffles, house-roasted coffee and fresh juices. It runs breakfast-to-lunch daily (breakfast from 6:30am, lunch from midday), takes no bookings, and suits travellers passing through, including those towing a caravan.

Getting there. Find it at 24-26 Playford Avenue at the Eyre Hotel. There is usually plenty of street parking along Playford Avenue and near the hotel.

Nearby with the dogs. The Whyalla Foreshore is a short drive for a scenic walk. If you are looking for a base, Discovery Parks - Whyalla Foreshore offers pet-friendly cabins on the beach.

Get in early for the quietest alfresco tables and the coolest part of the day in summer. Good for a fuss-free morning coffee with the dog before the sun is high.
