Caffè Lupo

Caffè Lupo is an Italian-inspired coffee, panini and dessert bar at 28 Reid Ave, Tranmere, a few minutes east of the city. It has built a local following on quality espresso and proper pastries, and it is known around the suburb as one of the easier places to bring a dog, with staff who go out of their way for four-legged visitors.

The dog setup

Dogs are welcome in the outdoor seating as a matter of course, and the cafe is reported to take them inside the small, cosy room as well when space allows, which is a rare touch in winter. Water bowls are readily available and the team has been known to serve a puppyccino, with the occasional scrap of salami making an appearance. Keep your dog leashed and settled so the small space stays comfortable for everyone.

On the counter

The draw is espresso, authentic Italian pastries and simple paninis, plus a dessert cabinet that does the heavy lifting on weekends. It is a genuine neighbourhood spot rather than a destination venue, which is exactly why it works for an easy morning coffee with the dog. Hours run 6:30am to 2:30pm weekdays, 7am to 2:30pm Saturday and 8am to midday Sunday.

Getting there and parking

Find it on Reid Ave in Tranmere's quiet back streets. Free street parking sits close by and there is a small lot nearby, and the entrance is wheelchair accessible. The suburb's leafy, low-traffic streets make arriving on foot with the dog straightforward.

While you are out there

The surrounding streets are good for a slow pre-coffee loop, and Daly Oval is close for a run around the boundary first. Daly Coffee Kick next to the oval is the natural pair-up, and Hidden Leaf Cafe is a short drive away in Campbelltown.
