Blac Fig

Blac Fig is the dessert-forward anchor of the Sandy Bay strip, trading 7am to 7pm every day at 527 Sandy Bay Road. Gelato, cakes, pastries and a passion fruit sorbet that people cross town for share the counter with a serious coffee program, and the long hours make it the rare cafe that works as both a morning stop and an evening dessert run.

The dog setup

Dogs are reported as welcome in the outdoor seating areas while leashed and under control, so the move is an outside table and a leashed companion. The location helps twice over: the cafe sits a short stroll from the dog-friendly Nutgrove Beach walking circuit, so a foreshore walk followed by gelato at an outdoor table is the natural loop. There is no formal written policy, so the reported-practice framing applies: staff are used to dogs at the outside tables, and a word on arrival sorts the seating.

The vibe

The display cabinet is the personality of the place: cakes, pastries, gelato and sorbets, with pork belly and oysters proving the kitchen is more than a dessert counter. Coffee holds its own against the dessert reputation, and the all-day hours make it flexible, from a 7am coffee before the beach to a 6pm gelato on the way home. It is busier at dessert time than at breakfast, and the outdoor seats turn over faster than you would expect.

Getting there and parking
