Donato

Donato is a relaxed, family-run Italian cafe on Lochiel Avenue in Mount Martha, and one of the easier spots in the village to bring a dog thanks to its spacious outdoor lawn and seating.

The dog setup. Dogs are welcome in the outdoor areas and on the lawn, kept on a lead at all times. There is plenty of room to find a comfortable spot away from the door, which suits dogs that need a bit of space. Bring your own water bowl to be safe.

Good to know. The cafe leans into authentic Italian food, pasta and coffee, and the Breakfast Tower is a known order. It also stocks Italian groceries, fresh lasagne and local Baker Boys bread, and is fully licensed.

Getting there. Donato has ample onsite parking, which is a real bonus in a village where street spots fill up fast on weekends.

Nearby with the dogs. Mount Martha beach and its dog-friendly zones are a short drive away, and there are leafy walking tracks nearby for a post-coffee stroll. Check council signage for current seasonal beach rules.
