Humblebee Coffee

Humblebee Coffee is a small specialty roaster and cafe at 77 Coogee Street, Mount Hawthorn, one step back from the Scarborough Beach Road strip. It roasts in-house, sells beans and brewing gear, and keeps serious hours: 6.30am starts every day, wrapping up at 1pm on weekdays and 2pm on weekends. Dogs are welcome at the outdoor tables, and the morning dog-walker crowd is a real fixture here rather than an occasional novelty.

The dog setup

Dogs sit with you at the outdoor seating, on lead, close enough that a water bowl from the staff is an easy ask. The space is compact and intimate, so it suits one settled dog better than a multi-dog convoy, and a dog uncomfortable with foot traffic will find the tight footpath busy at peak times. If your dog likes company, though, Saturday mornings fill with regulars who arrive on four legs.

Max: Mini donuts for the humans, a bowl on the footpath for me, and every second customer stops to say hello on their way past.

The vibe

This is a roastery first, cafe second, and it shows. The house espresso blend is named Coogee Street after the shopfront, lighter roasts sit alongside it, and the filter list runs to single origins, batch brews and the occasional iced espresso tonic. Food is a short list of pastries and small baked things, including the mini donuts regulars keep coming back for. It is coffee nerd territory without any of the attitude.

Getting there and parking

You will find it just off Scarborough Beach Road, with free street parking on Coogee Street and the surrounding residential streets. It is an easy walk from the Mount Hawthorn strip, so a dog walk and a coffee combine naturally into one loop.
