Dancing Duck & Co

Dancing Duck & Co started life as a coffee caravan and has settled into a rustic little cafe at 2/69 Lincoln Road in Morley, opening at 5:30am on weekdays for the morning shift. Locals rate the coffee and the quick bites, and it is one of the more genuinely dog-friendly stops in Perth's north-eastern suburbs rather than a merely tolerant one.

The dog setup

Dogs are welcome in the outdoor seating area, which has a casual, rough-timber feel that suits a dog lying at your feet while you eat. The team keeps dog treats on hand and has a track record of actually welcoming four-legged visitors, which is rarer than it sounds. No water bowl is confirmed, so bring your own. Parking is generally available nearby on the surrounding streets.

Worth knowing

The menu runs to quality coffee, bagels, toasties and panini, with cinnamon scrolls and a solid line of gluten-free sweets for the cabinet. Hours are 5:30am to 2pm Monday to Friday and 6am to 2pm on weekends. Early morning is the best window, both for the freshest scrolls and for a quieter outdoor area before the rush builds.

Pair it with

Crimea Park, between Crimea Street and McArthur Street, is right nearby and dogs are allowed off-lead except during organised sporting activities, when they must be leashed. Note the playground is a strict no-go for dogs, and under City of Bayswater rules you need effective control and a leash on you at all times. The park has toilets, a large car park and the Morley Eagles baseball and Bayswater tennis facilities, so on a game-free morning it is an easy off-lead lap either side of coffee.

For bigger outings, Riverside Gardens Dog Exercise Area runs along the Swan River at Bayswater and the Maylands Peninsular Loop makes a proper morning walk. Another Morley option with the dogs is Hear This Coffee House.
