Roll Call Cafe

Roll Call Cafe is a small, locally loved cafe at 2/655 Marshall Road in the Malaga commercial precinct, popular with tradies and local workers for its rolls, baguettes and barista coffee. It is a footpath-cafe dog stop in a working precinct rather than a destination venue, and it does that stop well.

The dog setup

Dogs are welcome at the outdoor and footpath seating out front, while the indoor dining stays humans-only. Staff are dog-friendly and will usually provide a water bowl on request, though bringing your own treats along is worth it. This is an industrial strip with regular truck and forklift traffic, so keep the leash short from the car to the table and settle your dog close in beside you so the footpath stays clear.

The food

The reputation here rests on exceptionally fresh rolls and sandwiches, Turkish bread focaccias, baguettes, sausage rolls and homemade pastries, plus good specialty coffee and chai. It is fast, hearty and reasonably priced breakfast-and-lunch food rather than a sit-down brunch menu. Weekday hours run 6:30am to 2pm; weekend hours are inconsistent between listings, so check before making a weekend trip.

Getting there and parking

There is free paved parking right outside the Marshall Road address and street parking nearby, so the walk from the car with a dog is minimal. The cafe sits in the middle of the Malaga industrial and commercial estate, about 12km northeast of the Perth CBD.

For a leg-stretch before or after coffee, Lightning Swamp Bushland in Noranda is a short drive south, a quiet wetland walk where dogs are on-lead and restricted to the designated paths under the City of Bayswater dog rules. For a proper off-leash session, the Whiteman Park Fenced Dog Park is a few minutes northeast, a 2.5 hectare double-gated facility with agility equipment and a separate small dog enclosure. Muzz Buzz Malaga is the other dog-friendly stop in the precinct if you are driving through.
