Anna Bay On-Lead Dog Exercise Area

The Anna Bay On-Lead Dog Exercise Area is a flat grassy reserve on the corner of Fitzroy Street and Robinson Street, right next to Birubi Beach, and it's the on-lead option for owners who want a walk without the tide and seasonal rules of the sand.

The rules. Dogs must be on a lead at all times in this reserve, and under effective control even while leashed. No more than four dogs per person. Pick up and remove waste immediately. Dogs aren't permitted in the children's playground or within 100 metres of the lifeguarded patrol area in front of the Birubi surf club.

What's there. Flat, easy grass with accessible parking right at the reserve. There's a playground for kids, and public toilets are nearby. No dog water station on-site, so bring your own bowl.

Getting there. On the corner of Fitzroy Street and Robinson Street, Anna Bay, reached via Nelson Bay Road into the Anna Bay town centre. Free and paid parking is available right by the reserve. The Tomaree Coastal Walkway connects through here, and there's a bus stop on Gan Gan Road a short walk from the park.

Nearby with the dogs. Rubi Blue Cafe on Gan Gan Road is a popular local coffee stop. The Crest Birubi Beach offers dog-friendly outdoor seating with beach views. Birubi Beach Holiday Park, just off James Paterson Street, takes dogs for on-site stays.

Weekends and school holidays get busiest between 9am and midday, so an early morning or late afternoon visit gets you the most space and coolest grass.
