Thurgoona Oval Park Loop

The loop around Thurgoona Oval, off Table Top Road and Vaughan Road, is a flat circuit of the suburb's AFL and cricket ground. It is a simple on-lead walk, handy for locals or anyone waiting on a game.

Lead rules

AlburyCity Council requires dogs on a lead around sportsgrounds and park perimeters unless an area is signed off-lead, and Thurgoona Oval is not.

The walk

The perimeter path is sealed, flat and clearly defined. You pass open playing fields, the club facilities and nearby play spaces.

Shade is limited to a few trees along the edge, plus the shaded spectator areas at the new pavilion. Bins sit around the reserve and pavilion.

Getting started

Park on site off Vaughan Road next to the sports complex. There is water around the pavilion, but carry a bottle and bowl for the dog.

Longer options

For more distance, the Thurgoona Trail is a 6.6 kilometre sealed, signed path along Thurgoona Drive to Kerr Road, part of the wider Albury to Thurgoona network.

Afterwards, Vinbar @ The Gums is the local stop.

An open oval gets hot on summer afternoons, so go early. The flat ground makes it a good fit for older dogs.
