Sir James McCusker Park Loop

Sir James McCusker Park wraps a paved loop around a chain of man-made lakes, with boardwalks, rocky waterfalls and plenty of waterbirds on the way round.

Lead rules

The City of Joondalup permits dogs off lead only in the park's designated area, so look for the signs before you unclip. Dogs are banned from the children's play spaces entirely.

Lakes, paths and shade

Max: The lakes draw a lot of waterbirds. Keep a keen dog on a short lead along the water and the boardwalks.

The paths are concrete, flat and pram-friendly, so the loop is easy on older dogs. Mature trees, pergolas and boardwalks give good shade.

Water fountains and bins are placed around the grounds, and there is free parking off Silver Sands Drive.

Make a day of it

Finish with coffee at Sistas Burns Beach Cafe & Restaurant near the coast, or at Fern Avenue Cafe in Currambine.

Who it suits

All that shade makes it one of the better local walks in summer. The flat loop suits a gentle daily walk more than a big workout.
