Rosel Park

Rosel Park on Quay Street is Depot Hill's big patch of open ground. It is flat and wide rather than a marked track, and dogs are welcome on lead for a loose, easy wander.

Lead rules

Rockhampton Regional Council manages the reserve, and it is an ordinary council park, not an off-lead area. Keep your dog leashed the whole time.

What the walk is like

There are no formal paths. You walk across mown grass and around the roadside edges, which makes it easy going for older dogs and short legs.

The park shares space with local clubs, including a radio control car club, so expect some activity on club days. Otherwise it is quiet and away from heavy traffic.

Shade and water

Covered seating gives some relief from the sun, and there is a toilet block and council bins. No dog water is listed, so bring a bowl and a full bottle.

Bartlem Oval is another Depot Hill option, and Hummingbird Cafe in the city makes a good stop on the way home.

Rockhampton heat is serious, so go early in the morning or after the sun drops.
