Ringwood Heights Walking Route

The Ringwood Heights Walking Route is a 3.7 km circuit that Maroondah City Council has mapped through Ringwood North. It stitches bush tracks and quiet residential footpaths into one loop, and dogs walk it on lead the whole way.

Lead rules

Keep the lead on from start to finish. The loop dips into Loughies Bushland Reserve and B.J. Hubbard Reserve, where the bushland is home to wildlife such as kookaburras and echidnas.

The walk

Gravel tracks run through the bushland sections and concrete footpaths link them through the streets. Expect gradual inclines rather than flat pavement, so it gives a steady workout.

The reserves along the way have seats, picnic tables, shelters and a public toilet. The bush canopy gives good shade on warm days, and street parking is easy to find around the loop.

Make a day of it

For a run without the lead, Mahon Reserve Dog Off Leash Area is close by. Finish with a coffee at This Little Kitchen.

Go in the cooler part of the day and bring water for the dog. The hills suit fit dogs more than slow older ones.
